Advanced Simple Profile is one of the video encoding layers of MPEG-4.

It is best understood as an addition to MPEG-4's Simple Profile video encoding. ASP adds the following technologies over SP, but is otherwise exactly like SP: B-frames, ¼ pel motion compensation, extra quantization tables and global motion compensation.
